I just wanna be okay, be okay…

October 20, 2010 by

Actually, I hate that advert. Too many pregnant women and daddy’s nestling their babies. But I like the song. Yesterday there was a loud knock at the door, I answered and it was the lady collecting electoral roll data. Naturally this year i really haven’t got round to filling that out. (This is blatant hiding […]

Still creating

October 4, 2010 by

I’ve knitted some more squares. I’ve made some things. I’ve modelled myself back from another brink, I think. Some days I don’t do much more than a squidge of Fimo or a few rows of knitting, but creating this is helping. I’m going to need more walls, if not more beds, soon though.

Damn. I’m all behind again. We’ve had a good few weeks anyway; the homework diaries work really well still. Everyone likes it, everyone is busy and occupied (well, except Amelie who is converting education avoidance into an art form 🙄 ) I regularly depress myself with the fact that the girls do not get the […]

Trees

September 26, 2010 by

When you are small, some things are forever. At my junior school, the Wednesday walks in the Arboretum were forever. At my senior school, the trees on the Quad were forever. At my Nana’s house I played under an avenue of Oak trees, gathered acorns, mulched leaves, gathered knobbly twigs to feed autumnal bonfires and […]

Our Family Tree

September 19, 2010 by

The “family tree” has been a watchword in our family for a long time – we lived opposite one that became christened such for a couple of years, in honour of  “The Tigger Movie” and Maddy planted one a few years ago in a pot which is now a strapping sapling, waiting to be planted […]

In between two weekends.

September 17, 2010 by

I do wish I could remember to blog more frequently about life, rather than about death. B- Must try harder. I spend a lot of time worrying about life, trying to keep things right for everyone and annoying people by going on about it, but not perhaps quite enough time living and doing it. Right. […]

Horror

September 13, 2010 by

A bright spring day. A handful of the kindest people. Smart clothes. Red brick, neatly tended. Flowers. A shiny black car. Silver trimmings. A tiny white coffin. A father’s arms to carry it. Flowers. Letters filled with love. Love was not enough. Music. Poetry. Flowers. A kiss on a box to say good-bye. A touch […]

Creative every day

September 10, 2010 by

We’ve had a really tough week, more disappointment for us and other people I care about, difficult stuff at work and a week of the younger three girls playing SCBU and Labour Ward games with PlayMobil. They’ve been clearly testing me, checking to see how well I cope with their subject matter and it has […]

Don't rock the boat, we don't have lifejackets

August 30, 2010 by

I think perhaps people underestimate the effect the last few months have had on the girls, perhaps because on the face of it, they appear to be doing so well. Although this is a blog about family, I’ve avoided talking so much about them because it seems a private thing, but sometimes I worry they’ll […]

That was the week that was

August 8, 2010 by

There has been a noticeable absence of girl news this week – this being entirely due to there being a notable lack of girl. In order for me to have a little head space, but also do some heavy work on our websites and for the girls to have some fun but also a little […]
