Just had a call from my bank to say someone is currently using my card, with correct PIN, in the South of England 😯 Luckily they’ve stopped it – and as my card is currently sat safely on my desk and it is obvious fraud, i don’t have to worry about being liable for the money. It would have been a LOT of money 🙁
I only really use that card at Tesco/Sainsbury – sometimes online but then presumably they wouldn’t have my PIN – the last time i tried to make a cash withdrawal, it was when the machine refused to accept any of my cards and kept giving me odd messages. I’m wondering now if the machine had been tampered with 🙁
I’ve cancelled all the cards i tried to use that day, just to be safe. Very scary.
Nightmare.
God, for a wonderful moment I thought there were two Merrys walking the earth 🙂
My friend had her card copied at our local Sainsbury’s cash point and only found out when tryig to buy a new vacuum cleaner and the card was rejected because she had exceeded her limit, she knew there should have been more than sufficient funds. Apparently (police advice) the thieves target supermarket cash points because they don’t have the CCTV that the banks have surveilling them and banks check their machines far more regularly than supermarket banking. We now only ever get money out from a cashpoint attached to a “proper” bank.
Horrid though. I would reckon that machine had ben tampered with. They can slide plastic inserts into the card reader that are almost imperceptible though designs are being rolled out that make it more difficult for the card reader to be accessed like that.
If someone has time to comment regularly and actively participate in the yahoo groups. Wouldn’t you think he could have 5 mins to do an itsy bitsy blog update?
Chris – I need entertaining. I’m stuck at home. Please blog.
Twas the other Chris.
Chris, i had no idea you cared 😉
Or there might be more than one Chris.
Yeah, you want to harass DaddyBean Michelle 😉
What a bloody PITA with your card! But well done to your bank for spotting it I guess. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for new ones.
Well I thought there was going to be a photograph – swapped at birth. I might challenge myself to find one for you. After all we did once have Keanu Reeves at a Muddlepuddle Camp 🙄
We have got a Merry Mii on our Wii of course! Has she made it over to yours yet Sarah?
Simon Wii is the best 🙂
Have you?????
Oh man.. that i need to see!
I bet she wears khaki 😉
IIRC, Gwenny put you in pink 🙂
Actually I thought the Merry mii was the most accurate one – aside from Ali G, he was spot on.
Si’s isn’t tall enough when he’s standing next to Steve.
Oh and ‘South of England’? Not me I promise 😉
lol, Nic… i know you miss credit cards, but i can assure you, it didn’t cross my mind to suspect you 😉
London and Southampton apparently – simultaneously!
Yes, the Merry Mii came over the other day. The children were completely confused because I told them Merry doesn’t have a Wii. Of course they don’t read anything that appears on the screen in text, just click through it as quickly as possible, otherwise they’d have known who sent it!
My favourite of the Portico Miis is still the Gaffer 🙂
I don’t think we have Simon though …
Its been a while since Ive been to your blog and now I see I have a heap of reading to do. Looks like you all have been very busy. I love your post a few entries ago on how home educating has become who you are and it defines every aspect of your life. Great post.
Ir eally need to do more science stuff with my kids! sigh
Thank goodness you weren’t liable.
I often use the cash machine outside Sainsbury, think that’s something that will have to stop in light of what I’ve read here today.
Just out of interest, when you signed up for the science thing, did you get a page up saying it wasn’t a recognised site (or something similar) when you got to the paying bit. I’ve tried to order it twice now and each time something goes wrong! My kids would love it, and so would I.
