Assorted crafting.

November 7, 2010 by

Last weeks cloaks didn’t really have masses of time for me teaching dress making, seamstress-ing or costume design but Maddy did get a crash course in pinning, which will no doubt stand her in good stead at some point. There was a very small amount of fun with this (if I’m honest not terribly good) […]

Keeping Busy Craftily

October 31, 2010 by

A side effect of this week being busier was that I got less knitting done, but I’m pleased with what I’ve achieved through the week overall. I managed two squares last week but only one this week, the red, orange and yellow one. Annoyed by my failure with tension down the middle of it though. […]

Day of Reckoning

October 30, 2010 by

I sincerely hope, when the day comes when someone asks my daughters what they most remember about me, they will remember the mummy who made cloaks for them more than they remember the ‘in a minute’ mummy who was often working and often crying. So this was my creativity today; not only making two cloaks […]

Still creating

October 4, 2010 by

I’ve knitted some more squares. I’ve made some things. I’ve modelled myself back from another brink, I think. Some days I don’t do much more than a squidge of Fimo or a few rows of knitting, but creating this is helping. I’m going to need more walls, if not more beds, soon though.

In between two weekends.

September 17, 2010 by

I do wish I could remember to blog more frequently about life, rather than about death. B- Must try harder. I spend a lot of time worrying about life, trying to keep things right for everyone and annoying people by going on about it, but not perhaps quite enough time living and doing it. Right. […]

Creative every day

September 10, 2010 by

We’ve had a really tough week, more disappointment for us and other people I care about, difficult stuff at work and a week of the younger three girls playing SCBU and Labour Ward games with PlayMobil. They’ve been clearly testing me, checking to see how well I cope with their subject matter and it has […]

More than a pair of socks

September 7, 2010 by

Here’s a nice picture of Freddie’s blanket. I made it big enough for him to sleep under as he grew – but he never did. But it has been such a comfort blanket – for me. I read the other day that an average pair of knitted socks has 34,000 stitches. I think this had […]

'Seamingly' going okay…

June 4, 2010 by

It has been a LONG time since i have done dress making, a very long time. Funny how many things on patterns i imagine to be some form of inbuilt knowledge and only teaching Fran is reminding me i had to learn them. We aren’t doing too badly. This is for her Beatles outfit for […]

Boxes & Beginnings

May 9, 2010 by

Today has been a difficult day. Every day is difficult at the moment, mostly because of Freddie and then other stuff which is lying on top of that, or underneath, but which isn’t mine to blog about. I think it is fair to say that life feels a bit surreal at the moment. There is […]
