Mother’s Day is always a funny thing. For one it comes so close after Xmas and my birthday that there is never anything I want as a gift (well, smelly bath stuff is always welcome) and for a second, getting gifts because I got lucky and got to be a mummy, seems a bit of a cheap trick to play on everyone really. And then thirdly, it is always tinged with just a touch of sadness, enough to make me not want to dwell on it too much.
I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to rather loving the little touches; cards made by preschoolers, badly executed secret gift wrapping done with more love than style or stealth and (most importantly) tea and crumpets in bed. (CrumpetS, not crumpet… for anyone who misread that).
Last year Max and I agreed we would swap over Mothers and Fathers Day – but by the time June came, he had forgotten 😉
Since I definitely don’t need yarn, my Lush stash is brimming and the chance of a quiet week off are slim, I’ll settle for flowers, one of those transient treats I can never justify the cost of on ordinary weeks, despite the fact they make me so happy.
I’ll settle for flowers for the rest of my Mother’s Days, if that’s all okay with everyone. What about you?
Debenhams kindly sent me one of their Mother’s Day Flowers bouquets to review and enjoy. Mine came with a vase and chocolates and is a soft, fragrant, colourful bundle of total delight. You can claim 25% off any of their bouquets (excluding the flowers by post range) with this exclusive discount code DFBLOG25.
I really hope you get the chance to treat yourself by using it. Flowers are such a mood lift.
