I have a friend who will talk about ‘PollyAnna-ing’ a day, seeing the bright side in a day that didn’t go to plan.
That was our day at Buckland Abbey this year. We love it there, it is a beautiful National Trust property which we always go to with lovely gardens, activities and walks as well as a great house, home of Sir Francis Drake. Generally we have a great day, finishing off with a cream tea and wasp baiting 🙄 😆
This year, lovely as the place always is, our day didn’t work; it was hot and Bene screamed the whole way there, fell asleep just as we arrived and was never happy. Everyone grumped and various people were wrestling hormones.
The lovely bit of it, however, was the gardens, full of gorgeous flowers and scents and inspiration.
And so these are the bits I will remember.
Cornflower. The French flower of remembrance, I’m told.
Primula. (Not squirty cheese).
Happiest bit of his day, till we took him away before he had also tried out the racing car.
