I made these for my Dad, who lives out in a hot place where heaven knows, you probably can’t buy civilised things like coasters 😉 😉 😉 (I’m joking, I’m joking…)
The pattern is a Simply Crochet (Issue 7) pattern in Rowan Handknit and a 44mm hook. Easy to make (but the patterns never seem to be online 🙁 ) and a bit new for me as it is built around an 8 sided design but very quick and I do love not having to change colours. I’d planned to make it with a boarder in chain around the edge but ended up just really liking them plain. I could quite fancy using them to embellish another floor cushion too at some point, though the magazine suggests using them as bunting. Here is a similar but different pattern with a click through to instructions you could try.
These went in with tea, coffee and biscuits for the perfect (I hope!) expat hamper of Britishness.
I’m quite actively working on trying new things in crochet at the moment as I’ve got a major urge to create patterns of my own and I need to glean some skills. We’ll see how I do!
You can probably guess where I am heading with this….
