Surfacing

April 25, 2014 by

April has been about being quiet for me; there was not enough time to think but there was a very enjoyable amount of time spent with my children as they hunkered down together through an all too short Easter holiday. Fran revised (oh my goodness, the waste of youth that is GCSE revision 🙁 ) and most of us were ill at times but we managed a pretty good bit of holiday.

There was sibling love.
Mummy would not do. It's all about Fran at the moment.

There was art.
Seriously impressed by Josie's finished article. Lovely afternoon. Like our ARTetc days @zoe_lcr

And baking with sisters.
He's been a tough cookie to adore today & in full on tantrum mode. It's not like I need reminding to appreciate what I have, but I'm going to bed mindful of life, even though there are candles across the room burning that remind me we are not all together

Gentle memories of Freddie.
A few last flowers on Freddie's tree.

Garden games and tent building.
There is a game afoot.

A visit from one of my oldest friends, Fran’s godmother who also happens to be an English teacher.
An English teacher for a godmother. There are times when this is a very good thing.

More garden games.
Give a boy a stick. Or a girl, but he does seem particularly obsessed with them.

It was all over much too soon. I think in May I might try a tiny blog a day, as I do occasionally, just to try to capture a snippet of life as it is. I miss blogging their growing up. I used to do that so well and I don’t feel I do now. Social media is taking over; the girls grew up on the blog but Bene is growing up on Instagram 🙁

Far more than that though, 2 weeks snippets of their time is not enough. I miss the old days of all being together so very much and this holiday, I think they really felt that too.

It was a good Easter though.

Merry you hint at several thoughts I’m having too. That I have lost my blog roots, its so easy to lose time getting sucked into SoMe. And also my eldest is groing so fast, that her time is now divided elsewhere, and our moments together are ever more precious.
