A while ago we were offered the chance to try out some foods especially for allergy sufferers. My little niece had just been diagnosed as Coeliac, a condition that takes gluten avoidance to a whole level above what most people with gluten intolerances have to cope with. So I asked Ilumi to send some to my sister. here’s what she thought.
We were recently able to try a range of the gluten free products from Ilumi Foods – and I am so glad we did! So lovely that we have bought and tried more since. Great packaging and great food – bright and inviting, which really engaged my 8 year old who at the time was a recently diagnosed Coeliac. We tried a spicy rice, a lamb casserole, a soup and the box even came with a packet of fresh herbs for us to add to the meals.
Rowan absolutely loved the flavours in all of the meals and although we are learning, as the parents of a Coeliac, to be a lot more prepared with home cooking meals from scratch, I can’t deny that every now and then (OK maybe half the week!) that we just love having a quick something that we can sling in the microwave and give her a healthy nutritious meal, that’s fresh, inviting and fast and free from the worry of cross contamination.
Ilumi offer great value for money, filling meals, easy to prepare and very tasty – I would happily recommend to anyone that needed a hassle free meal without breaking the bank.
I have to say (adds Merry) this would have made life a lot easier for us back in the days when Amelie was first coping with nut and milk issues. Have you got any good tips for recipes that safely avoid these food groups? Links or ideas welcome.
Disclosure: Ilumi Foods sent meals to my sister free for the purpose of review. Opinions are her own. Thanks MrsBN.
