This is long overdue; I promised to open this meme ages ago – but life gets in the way.
Every year home educators with blogs do a meme where the tell a ‘not very typical because what days are?) typical home education day in their house. Our days recently have been fairly humdrum but here is how we went about education on Monday, which we designated a geography day. I confess, having run out of phone battery on Monday, when Tuesday took a similar slant, I took a few more photos and slotted them in to where we also did things on Monday 😉
We tend to do a couple of things first each day, brain warm ups, some maths, English, science or whatever. Often they do a drawing and some music practice, though that has gone by the by a little just lately. It allows me to do jobs, feed Bene etc and wakes them up. Currently Maddy is immersed in science and Amelie in writing a story. Josie likes to do maths and music theory.
We decided to explore European geography. Maddy made a Europe jigsaw.
Josie worked on UK counties, with some help from me (it’s hard!)
Success! This was a great activity. I love these jigsaws and we looked at where friends live, where we drive when we go on camps, to competitions, friends and family etc.
We used an atlas to discover continents and made a key to show which colour we used related to which continent.
Maddy made scrambled eggs on toast.
After lunch we crafted for a bit, using soft air drying clay ot stick to pictures. They LOVED these.
Pictures nearly done. I think they did 10 of them in the end.
Maddy moved on to making more of our Halloween finger puppet range.
It got finished the next day but Maddy also took time out to draw a plan of her ideal fantasy kitchen. As you do.
Maps of Europe also coloured a labelled. Then they had to work on a list of facts they thought they’d be able to collate for each country and draw up a plan of it for making a fact sheet.
And then it was 3.30pm which means time to have a snack, get changed and in the case of Amelie and Josie (and Fran) go out for 4 hours gymnastics. Maddy sometimes does TKD in the evenings but recently she has been joining up with a friend of ours and his son, a bass player and a drummer and taking her guitar along to do some jamming. She sings too and they are fabulous.
So that was our day.
Why not join in our blog hop and show us your typical home ed day in photos? If you like, you can grab the blog hop code and badge – up to you how you do it. If it’s tricky, just leave a link in the comments and I’ll add you.

Love yours, by the way. I see I rudely read it and did not comment. That is because I commented in my head, and obviously expected you to read my mind. It was a great comment, very insightful, whereas this one is more inane. So I am going to bed;-)
