We finally got away for a holiday. We went back, again, to the farm we love so much, deep in the Dartmoor hills that have our heart. It is the most amazing place. You should go. Really. Just not all of you or we won’t be able to book our weeks 😉
When we went 2 years and 2 months ago, I’d have given a lot to know I was going to look at that armchair with a baby on a lap in it. To be honest, I’d have given a lot to know that a year ago, when I sat there each night waiting for the baby in my belly to move and reassure me for another day. We waited a long time to see if that cottage was compatible with a baby. (It is). Bene isn’t Freddie, but I was glad to take him there, glad to introduce him to the ducks and the dogs and the couple who own it who are now like surrogate grandparents to us all.
Here is Bene’s first holiday in photos.
A squishy, swishy walk to a wood in the sling. It was cold and wet at times but he loved the wind and the river.
Sun hat opportunities at Hay Tor.
Sitting on the clapper bridge at Postbridge.
Dipping toes in the sea at Bigbury. (Had forgotten about babies and sandy beaches… blech!)
Hm. Mummys sling, Daddys sling…. but Big Sisters do not sling. He did not approve.
A cosy spot for exploring a quarry. (Heaven help us in a years time!)
I have to be honest, Hipstamatic doing this to me was a bit of a sideswipe. Damned reflection lens.
Fish and chips by the sea at Shaldon.
Not overly fussed with visitor centres.
Need to work on the knee thing with the woven wrap.
(Proper holiday post coming soon!)

I grew up in Modbury, which you will have driven through to get to Bigbury. Lovely to see a post about how it can be such a haven for you. I hope you don’t get hit by back from holiday woes! xx
