How's you solve a problem like a catch up?

July 17, 2012 by

You’d be forgiven for thinking we never do anything. It’s not even remotely true. These days the things I would like to blog far outnumber the number of hours I have for blogging. I wish I could record keep like the old days; I love looking back on those posts.

Looking back on the last few months, it has been a nonstop round of STUFF. I think I did manage to blog the music festival and I sincerely hoped I blogged that Fran got a merit in her Grade 3 cello and Amelie a Distinction in her grade 1 Violin. Fran also got highly commended in Grade 4 Ballet (IDTA board so quite decently competent now!) and Amelie got oooh, Honours in I think Grade 2 Ballet. I’m pretty sure she took Grade 2 Tap on Saturday. Maddy is awaiting results of her Guitar Grade 1 and and became a Red Tag in TKD. They’ve all been playing touch rugby with the local Rugby team and Max has done an amazing job of getting together a small girls rugby squad to train together next summer. We’ve had several sets of friends to stay and Amelie has been to visit a good friend too.

Fran has been doing well at school still and scooped her college Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and Best Effort Award for Year 9. Not bad for a home educated lay about really. Guess we didn’t ruin her 😉

Ther is probably something quite wrong about even putting this photo on here. It feels EXTREMELY odd to have such a grown up looking daughter. She was very small not very long ago at all. This is Fran hastily modelling two of her senior dance outfits for the show that they were all in.

It was the first time Fran was in the finale and dancing with the seniors. I loved watching her in all her dances, she has come on so much in the last year and has really got some poise and grace now. The show as a whole was by far the best they had done too; all of them were in it and I really enjoyed seeing Maddy dance as she’ds given up most dancing now and so it is a rare treat. The musical theatre elements were a treat (though mostly sung by the usual protagonists, looking forward to some of the intermediate average kids getting a bit of a chance to do some solos too) and all the dance was really professional. Amelie looks like she was born to tap – she’s very cute and showy – and Josie blew me away with how graceful she was. She was in several dances and more confident looking that I expected and an absolutely beautiful ballet dancer. Really stunning.

I swear that day was THE day of Summer and we spent it sat in a theatre 🙄
