We’ve got visitors coming again this weekend and as ever, seats and beds are the biggest problem. The trouble with having 6 bottoms that already need seating and sleeping in a not very big house is that there isn’t an awful lot of room for overspill… and these days the girls aren’t quite so keen on being made to sleep on camping mats or sit on the floor. Our lounge is already stuffed full of sofas or I might take advantage of the Furniture Village Spring Sale and buy a few more posterior parking spaces (well, I might if I could actually afford to!) but I have a horrible feeling that not even Furniture Village will save us from having to double up and sit on each others laps when the people count of the house doubles. I did clear the garage recently, so maybe I can persuade the kids to sit out there on camping chairs and pretend it’s a den… what do you think? *looks a bit worried*
As for bed time, well the older bones of the 4 adults who will be in the house this weekend need the beds these days and I haven’t quite summoned the required golden galleons to buy the new version of a double bunk bed that I’ve been promising the bigger girls for a while either. I guess, with the weather sadly not looking too hot for the Jubilee weekend, I’m not going to get away with suggesting all 6 of them have a garden camp out so I think it’s the floor for them all again too. I’m sure it is good for their souls, so it’ll be fine…. if only I had known about this furnituire sale before it was the Last Few Days Left!

My Mu has cleared her garage, painted it all white (covered a multitude of sins) and put down cheap (*ahem-free-ahem*) carpet tiles. Kids thing it’s the best thing ever!

What’s wrong with sitting on the floor? If carpet is decent and if not, a rug over it to add depth plus a beanbag or two to lounge against – does me fine. Even when we get round to ordering the super duper big sofas, I imagine I’ll still spend a great deal of time on the floor. Gets you closer to the fire in winter too. Only downside is if you are watching a long film and numb-bum sets in, but that’s what the sofa’s for. If its lounging and chatting with friends, I see no problem.
