This year I did very little present buying outside of these four walls. My ever diminishing family doesn’t seem to require so much purchasing :/ I’m never very good at thinking of things for my mum either but I hoped she would appreciate something made with time and effort and love,so along with a box of smellies from Lush, she got this.
It’s my first ever properly complete piece of crochet, made from a granny square pattern in Mollie Makes magazine and as soon as I started it, the colours reminded me of her bedroom. As usual, I left it late, thanks to various other projects and dashing around driving people places for months so although the front was long done, I ended up hastily doing a back to it on Xmas day! I think it went okay though, although I did run out of yarn with 4 inches of border left. Argh! Josie helped me match all the front colours up so that not one of them repeated in the same place and overall, despite my lack of expertise, I think it turned out okay. The yarn is Rowan Hand Knit Cotton which is lovely to crochet with and the back was a plain cream square with a sea green border in triple crochet stitches.
