Cuddle Proofed Crochet Classes

November 9, 2011 by

I love this little you tube crochet class on how to make a baby hat, something I’m hoping to have a go at in the next few weeks. I’ve learned lots about knitting and crochet by using video clips and the girls have used them too. I’m left handed and for some reason, I just cannot translate crochet across and show them in a right handed way, so they have had to learn from other people, books and resources. It’s a handy thing. A while back my Nana and I fathomed out long tail cast on from youtube – it is not to be sniffed at!

Persil kindly sent me a couple of bottles of Comfort Pure as a thank you for showing this clip on my blog (there is also a knitting and quilting one on their channel). We are big Persil fans here. With 3 variously eczema-y children in the house, we discovered early on that only Persil Non-Bio would do for the skin in this house. Clothes, bedclothes and anything else that came into contact with them, if washed in anything else, caused extra itches and miserable nights. It’s annoying to be restricted in that way (in the past we have even had to take our own bedclothes away with us for them) but it is just the way it is.

I hope you like the video clip – it does have a baby in it, so be warned if you are a sensitive reader.

Re the left-handed ness….you could try propping up a big-ish mirror opposite you, and have them watch the mirror, rather than you, as you show them what to do….? 🙂

      Hmmm… I’ve tried sitting them opposite me, but I haven’t tried a mirror. Hmmmm… worth a go!

aw, lovely vid clip! I can remember my nana J (my first mum’s mum) teaching me to knit, but she never got me sorted with crochet for some reason. With the internet though, you can usually find a good clip or photo set that explains things in a way that makes sense….

Oh, and well done for learning long tail cast on…. that’s one I learned off the net too, I think it gives a much neater edge to it than any other method I’ve tried.

I still can’t do a long tailed cast on – it’s on my list of things I want to learn – as well as a magic circle for circular crochet.
