Tom & Jerry and The Wizard of Oz

October 5, 2011 by

Forgive the speedy whisk through this; I’m late doing it and I really wanted to milk something educational out of a dvd offer for the girls. But well, it’s been a busy month and I think when you home educate there is a danger of trying to make EVERRRRYTHING educational. We kind of used up our animation mojo this month elsewhere.

There’s no shortage of love for The Wizard of Oz in this house though, nor for Tom and Jerry so a meeting of the two was likely to go well. The girls all enjoyed this video. It has the proper songs (check!) and the proper characters (check!) and the animation is slick and professional (check! nothing worse than flat cartoonery) and all of them pronounced the way the two animals were woven into the story both clever and a good addition to the main storyline. Although having had such immersion in Wicked! I don’t think any of us will ever feel the same about the Wicked Witch.

If you’d like to win a copy of Tom and Jerry & The Wizard of Oz, drop me a comment below 🙂
