Today this song, one of my all time favourites since I was a teenager, seems very appropriate. There is something about the video for it, never mind the words, which says all there is to say. Everything is perfect, beautiful and all I could ask for, but none of it quite raises a smile in me. I couldn’t be luckier, I know that. Even when nothing is wrong, when all the footsteps and voices are perfect, I’m still dressed in black with my arms wrapped tight around me.
I wonder if there will ever, ever, be a day when it is not like that any more.

I hope there will be a day when it’s not like that, I truly do.
Beautiful song, never heard it before. x

That is one of my all time fave Nanci tracks too. Thought I’d blogged about it before but I don’t think I have, not even during my run of Nanci Griffith lyric post titles. I’d never seen the video though.
Anyway, lots of love. I actually like having some songs that evoke memories/feelings – you can put them on when you need to and just give yourself time to feel that way. fwiw I think there will be a day when it won’t be so awful.
And, in a very picky OCD moment I must point out that your music related tags are spelled incorrectly 😉

I saw Nanci Griffith live at Tutbury Castle many years ago. She’d stepped in because Michelle Shocked had called off at the last minute. Nanci was fantastic! I particularly love ‘From Clare to Here’ which makes me cry. Actually I like a lot of tracks from the same album and they nearly all make me cry!
