Exploring Artists – Paul Corfield

April 5, 2011 by

I know I said we had finished, but actually the girls and I had a bit of a spin off art moment today, which we all really enjoyed. It started, as these things so often do, with a game Fran and I were playing called Tiny Wings which has rather lovely artwork, of a very simple, naive kind, depicting island forms and simple scenery. it reminded me of some prints I saw of an artist called Paul Corfield (I really wanted to buy them, Max wouldn’t let me!)

A convenient shot from a Tiny Wings Island I happened to get one day.

I showed the website to the girls and we all decided to have a go at replicating some of his art, or perhaps using it as a jump point for something of our own. (Oh my, he’s in Cambridge this Saturday….)

It really isn’t long since the girls (or I!) would have had no idea where to start with this, so the end results are a tribute to the effort they’ve put in at Artetc over the last few months.

Evidence of me doing proper work too 😉

These are Fran’s, Maddy’s, Amelie’s and mine. (I’ll take this better tomorrow, it hasn’t done them justice to use a phone.) maddy’s in particular had a lovely swooshy feel to it.

Josie did her own take on it (twice!) – I really loved them 🙂

Great artwork but nooooo not another addictive app! I hold you entirely responsible for making my entire family ‘angry birds’ addicts.
