Ups and downs

March 13, 2011 by

After a week of all the girls being poorly, Max and I came down with milder versions of it this weekend. We pootled about though and did things – the girls indulged in a lot of rabbit play and pet worship, which was great to see.

4 dragons
I made these and Josie sat with me, also Fimo-ing and making some amazing Hama Bead pictures. I got started on the dragons using the Christi Friesen book Dragons but although she influences them lots, only the green coil is a direct copy.

Fran cooked up about thirty bracelets (possibly optimistic!) and is half way through editing the pictures of them. She’s going to learn to list on etsy this week.
Three Eyes

I learned to crochet, made a rectangle and felted it. It works well; I think I like the texture of knitted felt more, but it is certainly a good bit quicker.

Here is the crocheted piece next to my bag (the bag is doubled over but the same amount of wool). I crocheted in the opposite direction, which makes it a slightly less useful pattern but it’s nice even so.

In the garden, Freddie’s tree is about to flower and spring is truly here.

I don’t dare to dread April, or dread Spring, so I’m hurling myself through it with stuff to do and things to make. We’ve had good time together this week, even with the colds and coughs. A nice week really. But facing it, facing what I have to live through and remember, makes everything else seem so unimportant. Nothing matters outside these four walls on some days.

I will echo that! Amazing dragons. Did you copy something or was that straight out of your head? My head doesn’t have anything like that in it!

Yes, I forgot to add this (I always do normally, I’m about to edit!) – the Christi Friesen book Dragons is my inspiration but only the green coil is really a copy. The next few are from my head and the sitting two (on Flickr in a set called dragons but the photo is awful) are not really her style in shape at all.

I will show these to my son. He loves Fimo and these are wonderful.
