On my list of things to do is getting out more and visiting the same places as the seasons change. I plan every month – I missed Jan/Feb but I’m not going to beat myself up about that. On Tuesday we went to Burghley House for a walk and looked at Spring springing. It’s a place we love and we’re going to go every month and watch not only nature change but this years sculpture installations arrive. It was a lovely afternoon, quite the perfect way to be together.

Love Burghley. We go almost every week when the weather is good. That tree sculpture is new, unless I always go round with my eyes shut. We miss the animal sculptures of a couple of years ago. Much better than last years abstract offerings for the children. My favourite is the figure made of wire mesh sitting on a tree stump – took me ages to find it as you can only see it from certain angles and miss it completely if you don’t know it’s there. Expensive in season, have a look at the historic houses association membership before getting friends of burghley as may be better for you (is for us anyway:))

Ah ha! Thanks for reminding me. Have been meaning to do that for a couple of years 🙂

Ooh thought of another place that might interest you for watching the changing seasons. Barnsdale gardens on the north shore of Rutland water. Is about 10 mins off A1. Used as the gardeners world garden when Geoff Hamilton did it and run by his son now. Lots of little gardens in different styles and loads of space to run around plus coffee shop, simple trails for children to spot things etc
