How my 12 year olds mind works (or doesn't!)

January 23, 2011 by

Me: Hey, Max. You remember we saw John Lloyd on two separate programmes last night after never knowing who he was and thought it was a co-incidence? Well, when I was listening to Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy this morning, his name was there as one of the writers.

Max: That’s a bit of a co-incidence.

Fran: How can he have been on a programme last night?

Me: Erm… well he just was.

Fran: But you said the other man who wrote it is dead.

Me: Well… yes….

Fran: Then how can the other writer still be alive?

Me: Hm. Well, people don’t always die in age order, do they? Or indeed, neither do they die in pairs, just because they once worked on the same show.

Fran: Well he must be very, very old then, if he out lived the other one.

Me and Max: (Despairing tone of voice) Or possibly the other man was older already or died very young? Do be logical.

Fran: Well, it was perfectly logical from my point of view.

Yesterday Fran described HHGTTG as “awesomely random”. 🙄 I think she should apply to be a writer for it. 🙄 🙄
