Christmas Wednesday Group.

December 17, 2009 by

Today, this poor deprived group of hidden and potentially uneducated children did the following:-

Sang Christmas carols in Latin, making educated logical guesses on what different words were before each one. Who knew the Romans sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, eh?!

Did group music theory while eating carrot sticks, shouting out the note values of various cards and sharing the knowledge gleaned by a widely varying group of abilities with a good natured and willing effort. We co-erced them with the promise of cake 😉

Learned French phrases for Christmas and winter themed words, characters and events around the kitchen table.

Played carols on hand bells.

Made stained glass window biscuits.

Learned cross stitch and whipping stitch.

Looked at crystals (live, no impact assessment or safety evaluation!) under a microscope linked directly to a laptop and then co-operated on looking at other slides too. Were given information on crystal structure. It took a long time for the 5 year olds to refuse to be educated further (lol) but the others would have gone on forever i think.

Built real crystal structures using icing sugar and maltesers, demonstrating not only great sticking power (ha!) but also an awareness of germ transfer (ha!ha!) and an enormous ability to digest information alongside chocolate. (ha!ha!ha!)

Ate group lunch, played, socialised and listened to music. More pics here.

Thank the gods they have Mr Balls to protect them from all this.
