I’m no religious history expert, nor even a modern political one and my inclination to support gay rights goes exactly as far as thinking all of us should have the right to be who we are and explore who we are, so long as it doesn’t cause death, pain or despair to others, but this
“A senior Roman Catholic bishop has launched a scathing attack on the “gay lobby”, accusing homosexual campaigners of a “huge and well-orchestrated conspiracy” against Christian values”,”
from an article in the Telegraph has to be one of the most deluded and hysterical quotes i’ve heard in a long time. If there is an institution, collective or community with a historical reputation for huge and well orchestrated conspiracies, it’s the Christian Church.
I wonder if the bishop in question has heard of the Crusades, the Inquisition, the burning of ‘heretics’ in the 15/16/17th century or the extermination of the Cathars? Hmmm…. yeah, i bet the church is quaking in it’s boots at what all those nasty 21st Century gay people might do to them.

Well put! This expresses one of my many difficulties with organised religious groups.
Of all the things they could be up in arms about, this seems such a trivial thing.
