For my next trick…

October 19, 2007 by

… i’ve got so behind on blogging that i wouldn’t know where to start. We’re having a very odd time just now, which started pretty much instantly we got back from our truly excellent and enjoyable holiday with Chloe, Michelle and Marcus. I will blog it, even though Michelle already has.

Home educating is actually going very well and we’ve got back into a nice rhythm of everyone getting on and doing stuff and us all doing lots together. Will blog that too.

However, i just wanted to blog my lovely afternoon with Josie. The big 3 went off to play a game of Roman Princesses, or something, and she got left with me. She and i started playing with the Bindeez online designer which was fun, but really made me realise how little computer time she gets compared to what the elder two got. Not that that is neccessarily bad; she and Amelie don’t seem to suffer for it, but Josie has no idea how to use a mouse yet and got cross unless i sat with her on my knee and guided her hand. So i did, and it was lovely. Then we moved on to the Poisson Rouge site and both got completely spellbound by the lovely games on there. We particularly liked an appletree one and then happened upon a penguin on.

The other week a rep came round and happened to pull a penguin beanie out of his bag; Josie swooped on it, looked appealing and the rep very kindly looked the other way while she made a sharp exit with “Penguino” (spot the Dora influenced child!) Since then she has been obsessed with him and takes him all over and he is the first toy to be properly snuggled by her and allowed into her bed; up till now she has been very Maddyish and anti bedtime toys.

The penguin game was a huge hit and we played it, then googled for more, for quite a while. Then i remembered we had a few ty Beanie Penguins from our antarctic project, so she and i went upstairs and dug them out. Result! Penguino Heaven!!!!!

Back downstairs and i hunted down every bit of penguin footage i could find on dvd for her and we sat on the floor and snuggled up to watch those. We had a lovely time. It was just great to do something so simple and effortless and gentle, so appealing and easy and have such a lovely time with my nearly 3 year old baby.

🙂

Was wondering when you were going to blog again – I might not comment much but I do wonder how you’re doing when you don’t publicise it 😉

Glad things are going smoothly for you anyway 🙂

Is it me, or are your feeds being a bit temperamental these days?
