The rest of the holiday

June 12, 2007 by

That would be the week where i inflated another by 4lbs then 🙄 MUST go have that blood test. Sigh. I’m sure it can’t all be the odd biscuit indulgence 🙁

girlpowerish

But before i forget – this is the Puddle Girls being all Girl Power-ish, by BN! We love it!
ANYWAY……..

Thursday we spent the day in Launceston, first thing, and went round the castle there. It’s like a wedding cake, perched on the top of a hill and very basic and fort like. Excellent spot although if, like Max and i, you find heights rather difficult, it is a bit of a gulper. I only got half way up and couldn’t actually look at my 4 children happily capering about on the ramparts, leaning against those ‘terribly flimsy” strong iron railings. 🙄 i was feeling grotty really so not at my best, but the rest had fun.

After that we headed off to Lydford Gorge, a lovely National Trust Property that Max and i have been visiting for a long, long time. Normally we’d all walk round but i was too sore and hormonal, so Josie and i lounged at the top while the girls and Max did the short walk down to Devil’s Cauldron and back. Joey and i had a nice time lazing about anyway and both felt much less grumpy when everyone came back 😆 She and i had a couple of conversations about weaning, which were interesting and kind of touching. She asked me if my milk had gone now and when i said yes (more or less, didn’t think i’d muddy the waters with biology!) she said “I liked your milk and it was yummy and then it was nearly gone and now i’m a big girl so i have juice!” So odd to be able to have a coherent conversation about it and for it to have been so clearly a decision on her part, rather than just sort of ‘forgetting’ about it. Maybe this is why i’ve put on 4lbs actually???

I think Friday might have been a very slow start, a trip up a tor somewhere and a visit to Chagford before heading home (embarrassingly late) to meet Sarah and co at the tent! Other than that i can’t think what we did, but was lovely to catch up with friends in the evening.

Possibly the best thing about the week away was the firm “anti control freak” effect of having to leave someone to run the business in it’s current busy form; the perfect end to that beinbg that MF enjoyed running it all so much that sh’e gongi to do 4 mornings a week now and learn a “manager” role, so that should free me up to work on the creative stuff more, but more importantly give me back my mornings almost completely. Hurrah.

Saturday we went off to a joint cousins swimming party; loads of fun and the big girls revelled in being able to enjoy inflatable play now and swam really well. Josie bobbed about in a ring and was in heaven! In the evening we went to the family favourite spot of Kestor, above Chagford and planted our very own letterbox and Sunday we pootled home in a very lazy fashion; only took 3 1/2 hours, which was great.

So all in all, a fab holiday; will post up more photos (including one of the fabulous campsite showers!) later on 🙂 Only down side was managing to lose my DS game box, with about 8 games in it, including both my Animal Crossing towns. Wail.

you can’t have lost it! it must surely be in the car somewhere or something, packed in with the tent maybe – you might find it when you unpack at kessingland! When you do find it you can borrow my action replay to put your flowers back if you like 🙂

Sounds like a really wonderful holiday and that you visited some great places. I haven’t been to Lydford Gorge since I was a child and really must go again.
Hoping that the DS box soon turns up.
