The Nitty Gritty of Melrose.

February 5, 2007 by

It’s been done in plenty of places by now… so i’ll just blog my most memorable moments. Suffice to say really that it was easily my favourite Melrose so far; really relaxed, friendly, gentle with lovely community spirit and plenty of time to sit back and be, which i sorely needed.

Highlights included:

Meeting marcus, Michelle and Chloe by relative chance in the Ok Bugers place on the way up.

Not getting lost or stressed by the journey (think glasses help!)

Fran launching into organising a story club immediately on arrving and being very inclusive and leaderish for a while.

Fran clicking with Olivia and having a complete ball.

Maddy recovering from a bit of a crash on Wednesday on the sofa of Uncle Rich’s flat while i got to catch up with him.

Amelie going off for a day out with M,M&C.

Cake (though not the further lbs i seriously deserved).

Dom, Rich, Marcus and probably more people taking my washing up out of my hands practically every day and never making me feel bad about it.

Fimo workshops that went down a treat.

Competitive landlock.

DSing with Sarah and Barbara in the corridor and getting sniggered at by the grown-ups 😉

Fran and Maddy happily playing in the stream outside without adults around and without me having a meltdown.

Maddy and her gaggle of boys.

Amelie re-aligning herself with Libby and Kpie in the absense of Buttercup.

Sharing a room and not driving my cohabitee to distraction with my light sleeping kids.

Josie rolling under the bunkbed in her sleep and not being able to get out 🙄

Lucy managing the shop brilliantly all week.

All the dinners and my children eating them.

Clearing up with my “cleaning system” 😆 and all being out by 11am

Lunch in Ikea and chatting to a mum who turns out to be a nearly HEer who knows about Muddlepuddle.

Falling into my parents arms at the end of a long drive.

Getting to see and chat to (even briefly) all the people (i think) whose presence i missed at Melrose this year while having the honour of being at Kirsty and James’ reception.

Getting home in time for the 2pm rehearsal on Sunday at the end of a long but lovely week.

Having reason to my a precautionary Nitty Gritty comb 🙄 😆

I’d forgotten about the clubs they started up! I’ve put Chloe’s poster for the curtain club in her folder. Other kids do fun club, story club. Clo does Curtain Club – or “Crtn Club”. Sigh.

Really enjoyed being able to spend a whole week with you and the girls- and Josie spending ages on my lap that one time letting me read Dora to her. That was just the best. Hope to see you soon. What is your Friday like this week?

Ah, but DaddyBean – it was I who served the Bead Family mouldy bread when they visited darkest Hertfordshire. I did offer to cut the mouldy bits off but they felt a need to seek purchase of non-mouldy bread from local shop. 🙂
