Virtually Antarctic

January 5, 2007 by

First thing this morning a selction of Amazon parcels arrived; an Eyewitness Arctic and Antarctic Interactive DVD and the Planet Earth dvd (Max’s present from my parents) plus a set of cd-rom encyclopedias. Fran watched the dvd straight through and loved it; i do like how DK manage that “on white” presentation through everything they do but irritatingly we couldn’t get the Encyclopedias working. We’ve got the nature one, which is part of the same series and it works fine, but the others won’t. Grrr. I am fast running out of patience with our computer, it has had too many transplants and just doesn’t hold it together anymore. If i have a good month, i’m getting a new one.

Oh well. After that Fran did a heap of stuff on the EC science section and got very interested in crystals, which is handy, given my borax crystals 😆 Maddy, meanwhile, read some books (i think) and then set about a huge set of drawings of scenes from the non-animated peter Pan. I got her to focus down on piece after piece of her original drawing and add more detail and colour, which was fun. Amelie and Josie were deeply engrossed in Lilydolls.

Once we’d negotiated lunch and postman (oh i do like my new postman, he’s a peach!) i took them all out to Activity World. After an unpromising start, they went off in various 2’s and played for 2 1/2 hours and i did a business plan and inspired myself with business stories.

More parcels this evening, rather alarmed to discover that an average day now appears to be over 10 a day (!) and some chat with friends. Got the Fimo rep here tomorrow first thing and then plans for some actual project work. The keen eyed may have noticed the timetable is now in the pages and i’m going to give sticking to it a go.

Oh and if any members of my family breeze by and want ideas for birthday presents (what with it being 6 days away) – financial contributions towards Sat Nav to get me to Barbara’s next weekend would be excellent!

Grin, okay Greer, i get the message! 😉 I was more thinking you might like to relay messages, given you’re stuck in the parental abode 😉

Even *I* managed to find Jax without getting lost! One of the very few places I’ve not been lost on the way to…. But SatNav is ace, especially if you can stretch to TomTom – really simple to use!

Yes, but *I’ve* got to get to barbara’s. Though if i can persuade anyone to collect me, i think i might train it.
