New found confidence.

December 10, 2006 by

Yesterday i did a sale for a playgroup. It was reasonably successful but really enjoyable to be out and talking to customers and seeing what type of thing sold in that environment. Reminded me very much why i used to like doing craft fairs and inspired me to get more of that sort of thing going next year so well worth going.

I took Fran with me, because i thought she’d enjoy a bit of time just on her own; she looked unbelievably washed out on Friday and then lay away for ages, somehow unnerved by some little thing that had got lodged in her head and in the end i had to sit with her till she fell asleep. She was a very white and wan little ragdoll indeed. So she came along for the ride and had a lovely time setting things up with me, arranging bits and carrying in the smaller boxes. She obviously felt very important and it reminded me so much of myself at that age; i was about 8 when i started to go to sales with my nana, the ones that gave me the bug for one day having my own business.

Once things got going i gave Fran her pocket money and sent her off; it really wasn’t that busy so i got to watch her and it gave me so much pleasure. She floated around looking very preppy in her new boots, cord skirt, polo neck top and hair tied back (while clutching Sam the bear) and chatted to all the stall holders, bought presents for me and her sisters, tried all the games and even went into Santa grotto all on her own. She said it made it extra special and exciting to go on her own. Awww… She managed her money, came back with fresh bread for daddy and cake for me, Lucy and her to share and generally had a lovely time.

I’ve got a big girl 🙂
