Counting counties under a moonlit sky…

December 3, 2006 by

I seem to have done quite a few miles and quite a few county borders today. Let’s see…

Cambridgeshire
Huntingdonshire (half a real one!)
Northamptonshire
Buckinghamshire
Oxfordshire (when do you use Oxon. i’ve often wondered?)
Northamptonshire again
Derbyshire
Leicestershire
Rutland (half a real one!)
Lincolnshire
Cambridgeshire again.

Beautiful moonlit night though and a gorgeous wintery day. Perfect for driving and for the distribution/collection of daughters.

Trying to work when you went through Bucks? Glad you’re back safe.

You’d use Oxon whenever you’d use cambs, Hunts, Northants, Bucks, Derbs * , Leics, Lincs etc 😉

    * – yeah, I made that up. What do you shorten Derbyshire to?

I was quite impressed to go through Northamptionshire today, wasn’t expecting that.

lol, yeah, sounds too silly 😆 What about Ruts? Is that real too?

Giggle, no, i think the people of Rutland are too posh. Mind you, while i think a person from Cambs can say Derbs sounds silly, i’m not at all sure a person from Berks can! 😉

Lol, and reading this I think I’m glad I live in Devon! don’t go trying to shorten that one!
