Our desktop was fine this morning, then i went in and found it completely dead. I managed to get it as far as the first dos screen once, but now i can either get no response from the on button at all or all that happens is a bit of whirring and then a flicker in the cd drive and nothing else. The monitor doesn’t seem to be getting any signal to do anything at all.
Anyone got any ideas? I’ve never seen anything similar happen but am wondering if it could be the power source?
Mine did exactly that about a year ago. I descirbed it to the wee man in the back street shop, and he said it sounded like the power pack. He had complete faith in me that I could fix it myself, and I did 😀 About £30 for the bit, IIRC, whereas PC world wanted about 5 times that, and were going to send it away for 10 days.
And it was – and fortunately we had a spare computer which has now become a donor!!!!!
