I had good intentions this morning of starting back to something meaniingful, so i worked late, but then i got more orders overnight and in the morning the children appeared to disregard me completely and start something far more interesting instead. SO i used the opportunity to apply for a merchant account, apply for a postage ppi account, apply for an account with a new supplier, tidy up a bit, do more endless washing, hunt out some new postage suppliers and various other things hanging over me.
Fran did do some maths, the first section from the MPH3A1 book (now THAT is a ridiculous short version, it took longer to type than the name would have!) but really it is too easy for her. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th parts haven’t arrived yet so my plan to dot theough and pick bits out for her won’t work until i get them, but she might move on to level 4 sooner. Only problem really is that while she can do the maths, she sometimes won’t think about what she is being asked to do and i don’t exactly want her to move on to quick till she’ll be a bit more analytical. But still. Progress is progress.
Maddy was a bit odd today but is spending AGES with books; there seems to be some process occurring that i am not invited to, so i am leaving her to it for now, lest i bugger it up.
We had J and his kids over in the afternoon and that went well; he brought their pottery over too, which is great.
And now… um… must do some work.

Do you mean the exeter maths stuff? The abbreviation has thrown me 🙂 if so, have you ordered the fours yet? I’ve got them barely used if you’d like them. Hannah never took to them (er – susprise!) Anyway, email me if you’d like them, as I’m not going blog visiting that often, so won’t nec see a comment

MPH – presumably My Pals are Here? – Singapore Maths stuff. I think the whole thing with maths is pretty common, but I guess it comes in it’s own good time.

Joyce, i really would like them actually as periodically we use them quite a bit. I’ll email 🙂

Hi Merry – just a little comment about jumping ahead in MPH. I would be a little hesitant if I were you, even if it does seem too easy. Just be sure that fran has the ‘modelling’ concept off pat – ie she is able to draw models to solve different types of problems. This is because the whole of the Sing maths programme from level 3 up is built upon the use of models and if she hasn’t got a full grasp of how to use them she will struggle later on. I’m on the Singapore maths yahoo group and lots of people who have skipped levels seem to come unstuck! Just a word of warning as I have no idea where Fran is at, except that from your blog she does seem to have a good handle on all the essential concepts 🙂
