Several days.

August 13, 2006 by

Thursday morning i parcelled early then we headed off to Claire’s for a day of playing with Charlie and lovely toys. Midway through the day i got THE TEXT to say my new niece was on her way, so i was mildly distracted, but as usual i managed to come away from seeing Claire having spent money! Visitors who regularly part with cash at my house might think it is no more than i deserve. 😉

Friday i now can’t remember at all but i have a feeling it may have revolved around lots of Hama and story reading. I know i managed to completely forget to go to a picnic, which given i’ve only just remembered, is a bit embarrassing but i guess i wasn’t at my best that day. Oh i know, me and the girls finished off the playroom/dining room room and it feels very much like a home ed room now 🙂 I tried to do various bits of work, ready for relaunching the site properly this week but mostly we just chilled out as much as possible.

Saturday – horrible weather. Girls watched the dog show from the window and eventually we saw a couple of friends walking along the road to it, so we put Fran over the back fence to go and enjoy agility displays with them! Much playmobil play, lego play and general being out in the garage. I did a longish cycle in the rain, which was actually very enjoyable although i did nearly fall off at one point!

Today i took the train up to see my sister and Ella and it was really lovely. She and Rowan were very thrilled with their presents and all the grown ups had to have a little snuggle of them too. Rowan doesn’t really know me that well, due to being born at the same time as Josie, but she showed me her new sister very proudly indeed and i felt like the genuinely great auntie too 🙂 And actually it got even better because it actually was just incredibly lovely to hold Ella and my sister very sweetly just handed her over for as long as i wanted and when she woke up i sat and helped my sister with getting her latch and position right for a while. Managed to help too, with a little trick that being my shape taught me this time and made a big difference to how comfortable she was. Was utterly great to see them both relax and start to feed well and comfortably and boosted me loads to have helped. Suddenly realised i’m a successful breastfeeder and perhaps not even too bad at being a big sister 🙂 Have to say though, i didn’t get any “glad i can give her back” feelings; just made me realise that maybe in a year or two i really WILL want to do it again.

Came home with my mum and have spent the evening tidying and getting more work stuff done and am now trying to summon enthusiasm for the fact that the girls have a week of swimming lessons at 8.30 in the morning! ARGH.

OMG – and I thought 9am was bad…am psyching myself up for week 2 of Rachel’s lessons. Which reminds me, I should be going to bed!

Got the girls in for 9.30 on the next splash course at the end of the month. Thought the extra half hour would help to keep the brain functioning for the rest of the day. They have level 1 and 2 running at the same time if you wanted them all in together! Costs an arm and a leg though. 🙁

I suppose now isn’t the time to say “told you so” WRT being successful 😉 Well done both for being able to help someone else “get” breastfeeding and for realising you really *are* successful at it!!!!
