OMG – I’ve just spent ages trying all sorts of numbers and it got it right each and every time. Totally stumped here how it works, but I have a feeling it’s pretty addictive…..
They change the symbols when you reload the applet, but you’ll notice that the solution is always a multiple of nine, and that the multiples of nine always carry the same symbol
any number from 10 to 19, will have 9 as a solution
any number from 20 to 29, will have 18 as a solution
any number from 30 to 39, will have 27 as a solution etcetera
I just thought I’d pop back to say I’d sussed it and now feel a bit thick that I’ve taken so long! Doh!!

It’s fairly simple, you always end up with a certain number 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72 etc, notice it’s all multiples of nine
If you count up the two digits and subtract em from the number, you always end up with a multiple of nine
20 for instance, becomes 18
21 becomes 18
22 becomes 18
etcetera

I got the 9 bit sussed, but then lost my head when it changed it – i didn’t spot they were changing the symbols on the reloads!
No it did’nt work unless I was doing it completley wrong!
