MEP and Mandela

June 19, 2006 by

First day back after a holiday always feels like a weird one, but Fran asking for maths before i was even out of bed is something of a new one on me! I’d promised to do some of the MEP year 7 stuff with her so we printed that off and did the first few pages; nothing particularly taxing either in reality or for her, but it gave her a buzz to know it was aimed at 11 year olds. Ended up doing some drawing out of shapes on squared paper and dividing them up in different ways, talking about the relationships between certain fractions and bits of this and that along the way. I was very pleased with it all; having started from the position that it was stress free because it was likely to be stretching, with her knowing i would help her whenever it was difficult, we both really enjoyed it. Thought i might get Maddy doing some of it with us tomorrow and see if we can play some games with it all.

While Fran and i did that, the rest were watching Aladdin, all very much in need of some de-camping. Maddy and Amelie did get involved in some very complex shop game though, using real money which they both appear very capable of counting accurately. So that’s good 😆

Fair bits of the day were taken up with Primary History viewing on Mandela, Gandhi and the Tudors, some conversation on the relative experience of going camping versus what it would be like to be in a refugee camp in the Sudan, discussion about Megan/Sarah’s law and the relative good/bad points of it, EC in maths and French and then lots of playing. Fran is now very into CBBC and watched a programme on the Amazon in absolutel fascination last night. Good to see her growing like that, tohugh she has spent the day wandering about in an outsized pink babygro 😆 Still my baby really. Josie has been demonstrating her lovliness again now she has been reunited with daddy, using the word “cuddle” (or more accurately tuddle) a lot and answering “what do you want?” with “m..m.. milk” and pointing at my chest 🙄 I did laugh on camp when she sung “i want milk.. milk… milk..milk” to the tune of twinkle twinkle and was very impressed with her rendition of “Let’s go Fly a Kite” too 🙂

And errr.. that’s it.
