Hurrah for Friday, Hurrah for Smilies

March 24, 2006 by

Despite a truly awful nights sleep, we were all up and functioning reasonably early :cheer: I won’t comment on being found asleep on the sofa at 6.30am by Fran, having been chased out of the marital bed by my husband wafting foul smells at me :vomit:

Maddy was feeling particularly motivated and set about writing a series of letters to her best friends  ; she wrote 4 in the end, all done on her own, with just minimal spelling help and i was very impressed. Then she sat and read her P&J book and eventually settled down to do a page in her Wizard Whimstaff handwriting book. I love her motivation so much

Amelie did some Studydog, some Cbeebies website, vacuumed the whole downstairs brilliantly for me and built a variety of geomag shapes. She laso entertained Josie with a variety of games and sillinesses, most noticeably a game involving both of them opening the little Dora Laptop and shouting “DOR-WA!” a lot!

Fran is now a confirmed addict of Look and Read, so watched that through, then read her Stardust book as well. ❓ How pink and girly can this girl get i wonder? Then i asked her to come and try a spelling puzzle book we got yesterday; initially there were some strops and a whole lot of “if it shows you a picture of a wasp and gives you the letters ‘wa–‘, what can those other letters be?” “um….. e-t?” :wall: but eventually she shook herself out of it and did about 7 pages of the puzzles perfectly well. She really hasn’t clicked with writing at all yet, though her physical writing is okay but the ability to connect brain andd pen and paper into something meaningful is deeply slow. I think, like with reading, she is just going to have to practise and these seemed quite fun once she got into them. I got her a 6-7 one and it was easyish to just right, so i guess it is a start.

We’ve been to Activity World, taken ID into the solicitors (where i discovered my passport was still in my maiden name! :slap: ) and i’ve been to the docs for more ABs for a dodgy throat. And now i think it may be time to start packing! :ale:

So… Stardust books are what you lurch onto after you have survived the interminal Fairy books are they? Out of interest, are they any better? I think I may scream if I have to read many more Fairy ones!

Hope the ABs sort the throat before it becomes an issue for you. Enjoy packing 😉

Three girls all reading the fairy books, all rushing up at different times(at least twice a day) to tell you what books they’ve already read (as if you hadn’t listened to them the 1st time)is starting to drive me insane too 😀
