Been and gone.

January 19, 2006 by

Possibly one of the all round most enjoyable Portico visits ever. The highlight of the day was a well rehearsed and fabulously performed version of Jack and the Beanstalk – with Violet as narrator, Gwenny as Giant, Ernest and Buttercup as jack and Baby jack, Fran as the harp, Maddy as a golden goose who laid her eggs quite excruciatingly well and Amelie as the giants wife and a princess. Was fab – they had scenery (green scarf tied to the bunks) script and curtain calls and i loved it. It was just one of those moments were you see a load of kids “doing the show right here” – and they did. Actually has to go down as one of my best home ed moments ever 😆

As an aside to the morning, i got to use the “Ady machine” so now i have a nice clean carpet 😆

Spent the afternoon at AWorld so they could all run about, which was reasonably successful, though with a few bumps and bruises, before waving well loved visitors off for another few weeks. Thanks for coming 🙂

Then i managed to get everyone to Rainbows and Brownies, do some parcels (helped by Alison having been my label lacky last night!), get to the Post Office and now i have the small matter of a million beads to sort and paperwork and stock levels to amend. Heigh ho.

Edit: other favourite moments of the last couple of days; Josie saying “Maddy” and “Ammi” very clearly and with meaning – and also playing ‘play food’ with Violet today and going “yumyumyumyummmm” to join in. Also the car conversation with my big two, Ernest and Gwenny on religious imagery in Narnia, cultural gender endings on names and spelling our names backwards (where i astounded the Portico two by detecting a hint of Gaffer in their fluency!)

    It was 🙂
Though I think Merry missed out Violet’s preferred title of ‘Director’ 😉

Great to hear Josie gabbing away, and lovely for the rest of them to do whatever it is they do all day 🙂

Giggle. So she was. I shall have to take that girl under my wing 🙂
