Busily doing nothing.

January 18, 2006 by

How a 2am finish has meant i’m up at this time i do not know…. 🙄

We spent quite a bit of yesterday just sorting and tidying, thoguh quite a bit of conversational ed happened at the same time, notably a conversation on the making of matches. Can see a topic there, if the moment comes up properly. Maddy was tootling away at this and that in a very Maddy-ish way, Amelie spent quite a long time navigating the Cbeebies site. She really is very good at that now, i’m impressed by her autonomous learning there! Fran helped me out loads and she and i sat down and worked through the 3x table bit of her maths book. All fairly new to her but i was pleased that she knew exactly how to set about it and was able to work independently at it.

By the time we’d posted parcels, the Portico were with us and then there was an instant launch into games and playing; the unbiquitous Puddle wooden games came out and much general silliness. Big two went off to dancing, then when they were done we took the whole shebang to macdonalds, which has a playing area attached. probably spent a couple of hours there in the end, not that you could call them tired out as they were still twittering at about midnight! Mostly still asleep now too.

Fran and Maddy got their grades for their tap exam, which i shall record here as a Proud Mummy Moment. It was a IDTA Preparatory Grade (whatever that means) and Maddy got 76/100 (Commended) with the comment “delightful personality; Maddy, listen to your music. Steps developing quite nicely” and Fran got 85/100 (Honours) with the comment “set work had been well prepared. Listen with care to your music. Good response.” I know that it is pretty hard to fail this (tbh, if it had been possible, i’m not sure i’d have let them do it, well not Maddy anyway, who was very stressed by it) and it is the easiest grade, but i am still chuffed to bits that they did so well. It was the first time either of them had ever been in any environment of that sort and they were so nervous, so they deserve a big pat on the back. Which they got 🙂
