Started the day by realising i had spoken too soon. Fran had got nits again 🙁 From the look of it (1 mummy, a few lice, some eggs) i’d say it was from within the last week, Brownies i’d guess. the other two are clear anyway, thank goodness, so after a head-reddening grooming, i hope the worst of it is gone before it got going.
Blurgh though.
All the resulting bathing and grooming meant that we were later than intended over to the Beans to see them and the Barts. But had a lovely day nonetheless. Always good to have a serious blog-bump and the kids had a lovely time. Enjoyed seeing them all drawing together, Fran reading to SB (a proper big book!) and the babies playing nicely. (Not ripping each others heads off anyway.) Lovely day, thank you for having us, thank you Daddy Bean for the catering!!!!
All over far too soon and home again. I fell asleep (!) probably due to having awoken early after an deeply unsettling dream that haunted me all day really. Redeemed myself at bedtime by going through Fran’s badgebook tonight and identifying the last bits of the badges that need doing tomorrow ready for her Brownie session. And Alison, if you think rainbows sounds twee, Brownies used to be called Rosebuds!!!!
(Postcard History Site for tomorrow)
Aiming for a nice Thursday again tomorrow if possible; have promised early chapter of TMN as missed it tonight and they are much more interested now we’ve reached Narnia.
Still musing on what to do on latest nursery mindbender; didn’t like the way i heard staff talking to a child at Late Club AT ALL and can’t decide if its my business or not. Would be MOST annoyed to find Amelie had been talked to like that though. One thing i’ve always liked, apart from one situation with one woman once, is the staff/child relations there.

Difficult one re nursery. Is there anyone you can have a quiet word with? I recall doing similar at Big’s nursery some years ago, and being mortified to discover two weeks later that the member of staff in question was sacked. Turned out I wasn’t the only person who had reported concerns though.

Rosebuds? Gag! When was that then?
Hope you get rid of the nits quickly – wasn’t it June who swore by her electric zapper comb?

mmm back in time I remeber us using the electric zapper comb , to the horror of the children who’s heads it zapped! Quite keen it was too and seemed to zap us more than the nits – maybe technology has moved on 🙂

It’s pleasure Merry. Great to have all the kids crashing about the place.
But you did seem to leave pair of knickers by the front door 😉

make up a strong oil blend of lavender, geranium, and eucalptus in a carrier oil, and cover the girls hair in it before they go near others, and pop a few drops into your handfull of shampoo. Get a small water spray bottle and put LOTS of drops into the water, and spray thier hair all over……This is my secret weapon, even with a whole year at school, and all the other children, even her best bud getting nits, my little one didn’t. Dunno if it can get rid of nits, but it prevents them well…
Nat
P.S love your blog

Oooops!
I’ll try that nt 🙂
Rosebuds, in 1917 i believe 🙂 Rainbows is not twee though really, well no more than Brownies anyway. They just run around and make random craft items! But then, i always think Girls Brigade sounds very Chalet School – but i was a behatted and becaped St John Cadet, so what would i know!

I would go to the owners. I had to deal with this a couple of times as manager. One girl got instant dismissal for raising her voice at a child. As a parent I later had to contact them when I heardtell of a naughty chair- she was sacked also. Often things go on when the bosses aren’t around and won’t know unless parents say! Personnaly I would have pulled the memeber of staff up myself my sayign I didn’t think it was right to do whatever she had done and that I would be speaking to her boss.

Trouble is, its not a “girl” its two grown women, significantly older than me. Its not a private nursery either, its a place that employs teachers, rather than NNEB type people. But i think you are right anyway.

I phoned and spoke this morning; got taken aside by the pastoral care type woman this afternnon and thanked for bothering to tell them about something that hadn’t directly concerned my child and promised that action would be taken. So, well… 😉

I had a similar experience during the week or so I accompanied L to nursery school. I overheard a staff member telling her colleague that training her new dog had given her a lot of ideas to try on a little boy at the nursery. One of those two staff members also ‘tricked’ L into giving up his back-pack, which he wore constantly at the time.
This too was a state nursery school – best reputation in town as well. One of the staff members concerned was a woman much older than me, who had been there for years. Luckily for me we were out of there in a week or two. If Amelie is staying you’d better talk to head – for your own peace of mind if nothing else.
