Sometimes the system goes on the blink

August 9, 2005 by

Day started early with a (rather feeble) attempt at sorting ourselves out. I had a load of bead parcels to do (BM on location, coming soon to a town near you! No Joanna, NOT bowel movements!) Kids entertained themselves delightfully, revelling in a large garden for a change and attempting to rollerskate. Finally got sorted, moreorless, by which time my niece, here on in referred to a dn1, had arrived to be looked after for the day. Living 200 miles apart, there isn’t much scope for the cousins being together, nor for me to provide holiday cover for her working parents, so for the next couple of weeks, we are making the most of it. She looks just like my lot, buti have to say, 5 children to keep an eye on out in the wild is a whole notch up.

Made it over to Sarah’s, bummed for ages while i used her net connection and emailed customers (tonights nightmare is to try and resurrect my aol dial-up account, dunno if i actually need software to do that though) then eventually took all the kids out to the park for a home ed meeting. Dn1 fitted in very nicely and they all had a lot of fun, Maddy came over, with great excitement, to tell me that some of the other children were home educated. i think she had a lightbulb moment about it, like she had suddenly discovered that we weren’t in actual fact the only people in the world who did such an outlandish thing. Dunno what she thinks the rest of you are up to 😉 Lovely to meet Lurking Lisa again 😉 and her trio of beautiful girls.

Back at Sarah’s now, downloading more customers orders and trying to summon up some enthusiams for making my printer work at some point. This is all trickier than i thought; may yet have to investigate bluetooth if i carry on with this holidaying marlarky.

Fran has desperate urges to play Animal Crossing now, she and i have a date with some reading practise as we have a deal to start Harry Potter 1 when we get back, so i better aim to move them sometime soon.

Alison, i need 5 basic steps to detoxing without a book; can you accommodate me? I have pine nuts, do i need anything else?

Edit: I’ve now achieved pay as you go dial up status, so i’ll be online when i’m at sarah’s but if anyone wants me in the evening, text me first!
