Trying something new

August 4, 2005 by

Largely, my new “keep away from the desktop” thing is working; while i did use the laptop a fair bit yesterday, we were all together, mainly explorig iTunes, which was lots of fun. Music on the internet has so far been the great unexplored to me, so i’m quite excited about finding something new. Added to that, the sound on my laptop is really surprisingly good (in a you can hear it and it works) sort of a way, so its fun to let the kids dance and try music out.

The other “new” thing is the way were are approaching ‘normals’ – i never really wanted it to turn into something we were a slave to, nor did i want to be whip cracking over it. And recently it had stopped being a means to an end and become something taking up all our time. In short, a bit boring and a source of tension, not the things themselves, which Fran still enjoys, but the time doing it.

For a while, 5 stints a week at her “box” had earned Fran half her pocket money, so this week i picked the book currently her favourite and put a pink dot on the pages i wanted her to do this week; then its been up to her to complete those pages by Friday. It took her a while to realise quite where i was coming from, but yesterday she did half of it, with the intention of doing the other half today so she could have her money for going into town.

Other stuff, lots of playing with Js, who finishes tomorrow. We’ll miss her; she has been easy company and a great help. I went to the dentist and had my filling finished without annesthetic, not fancying the head rush of last time very much. it was fine, i worked hard at being calm, i survived unscathed.

Thanks again to Tammy and Sam for the babysquitting, Sam got to meet Dave 😉

Maddy did lots of Studydog and a variety of drawings, so did Amelie and i really can’t think what Fran was up to, though lots of it revolved around Sylvannian Families and trying to keep Josie off her game. Start of a protracted love/hate relationship there i think. Bring it on! 🙄

Josie just got so big yesterday, by the end of the day she had attempted standing several times. After last weeks nursing strike, i had a feeling that a change was about to occur, seems this was it. 9 months tomorrow, out as long as in.

Towards the end of the day my Usborne Kit arrived, so the girl appropriated that. Need to sell £80 by August 21st – lol… must try to do better this time!
