How's your father?

July 13, 2005 by

The kids have no idea – we had to put up with him not coming home till 7pm tonight; not something we are used to and it was horrid!

Other than that it was a good day. We’d done plenty of pleasant activities by the time Js arrived; pattern blocks, geomags, finding a “Dave”, drawing and all that continued when she got here. She and Maddy did Maddy’s book, i got to do some letter learning with Amelie (she knows quite a few, no idea how!), Fran took a set of pictures of her Beanies in the garden, Fran and i put the rest of the Saxon (or sort of Viking really, need to check up on a list for the correct term there) Kings into the timeline.

Maddy did me a beautiful set of pictures telling the story of Cinderella; in the last few days she has spontaneously begun to draw body shaped people rather than stick men and it seems to be giving her new confidence with what she is doing. Fascinating to watch her changing in this way. I must set her up a picture blog. She also really seemed to enjoy narrating the pictures to me.

Its been a nice day for everyone being occupied and busy, certainlt the morning felt really purposeful and harmonious.

This afternoon Hannah and Maryam came round and we started what will hopefully be a process of getting our collective 10 children to get to know each other better. At least, their’s do already, and hopefully my lot will be a good addition of age ranges to provide some new friends. It may take a while, they were all a bit shy, but hama beads helped a bit!

Josie managed to get her feet under her yesterday which was quite scary. She is so lovely, just a perfect baby.
