This is the last time…

May 8, 2005 by

For today any way 🙂

So, Amelie is 3. And she has been telling us all day, bless. “I free, mummy, i free!!!!”

One of the reasons we tend to have a birthday weekend round here is that, if i’m brutally honest, i find it fairly hard to celebrate a day that was basically almost totally horrible for me. Its mainly worst for Fran, although it was better last year, and today was okay; i hid until after 11.44am as do find myself doing the whole “This minute 3 years ago” thing – but at least for Amelie, i know it was for good reason. She wouldn’t be here without that c/s. Just a few weeks before she was born, a baby i knew of died because of a similar cord presentation, i always think of him when its Amelie’s birthday because i know how lucky we were. I tend to feel i owe him a raised glass because it was very much his story that made it easy-ish to accept that section.

Anyway, more of the same today really. Lots of reading with Maddy, Fran had done a days worth of “normals” by the time i came down, lots of interesting conversations about timezones (while in Carphone Warehouse getting my new phone!) and something else but i really can’t remember what. We sowed seeds in the flowerbeds, including the sunflowers from Sam (thank you!) and Fran got on with her sewing while i read to her about jason and the Argonauts (and she corrected my pronunciation!!!!) We hunted in vain for sundresses in Tesco Extra and i started making my fleecy jamas.

Max invented a rather nice little computer game that generates a page of sums, uncovering a square on a phot for each right answer. When the picture is showing, the girls had to go to the place in the photo (dolls house, climbing frame etc etc) and find a clue, read it, guess the answer and then type the answer into the game as a password. They worked as a team, with Fran coaching Ammi to some right answers and thoroughly enjoyed finding the eventual chocolate treasure 8 pages in. I dunno, a Gaffer in the making here i think 😉

So anyway. Nice day 😉
