I noticed tonight that the world has been turning

May 3, 2005 by

My new resolution is not to put the computer on till after lunch; i’m starting to think i know its pixels better than my childrens’ faces. So today we had done plenty by 11am, which felt really nice.

Started off with some Getty Dubay, moved on to the 3rd book, with an agreement to use the 2nd one only for difficult letters, which pleased her no end. Then she did some Toady Times Tables, similar set to the ones Satrah has i think, got them a couple of weeks ago. Minor song and dance created over “I’m only doing 2 pages a day!!!!!!” but then she did the pages just fine, until the revision questions where she suddenly started adding not times-ing. Okaaaay…. Then we read a “Nigh time Animals” LadyBird book. Along with the sighting of a AWACS plane (how weird are those????) while we were out taking Maddy to nursery, the Bat page prompted quite a lot of discussion on Radar and so on, including a somewhat dodgy drawing of the effect by me. One thing i find really strange about HE is how often i discover i don’t really know how something works when i’m called on to explain it – its somewhat humbling! Anyway, she is quite interested in Noctural Animals, and we have a half finished wall hanging of them, so i might drag that out.

Anyway, after that she asked me to teach her to knit. Mindful of my efforts to retain a 4 daughter status, i diverted her to sewing and she has spent a lot of the day stitching a simple design on to plastic canvas, with the agreed target of learning various stitches so she can sew a doll.

Ammi was mostly watching TV, playing LeapPad, entertaining Josie but happily, which was nice. I’ve given her lots of attention over the alst few days and she seems really good on it. Can’t believe she is 3 at the weekend.

Girls went to dancing tonight; Maddy is not that keen on tap really but apaprently Fran is doing really well and Maddy tries hard. Bought Fran a cardigan and she voluntarily contributed £1 from her pocket money purse towards it. Had to buy her new ballet shoes as one has got lost and told her that if she lost anymore, she would have to buy them from her pocket money. 😀

To finish, a few things that made me laugh today.

Ammi (Coming downstairs): I done a wee… I done a NORMOUS wee and NORMOUS paper.
Me: Good girl… i think… erm… enormous paper?
Ammi: Yes… come this way mummy… don’t go upstairs… noooo…. please… .nooooo….

I think we ALL know what i found.

After a long conversation with Fran about politics and the election
Fran: So… after everyone chooses… what country will be in charge of England?????

Out of the mouths of babes…

And tonight.
Max: What’s you favourite thing Fran?
Fran: My family. What’s yours?
Max: My family too. What’s yours Maddy?
Maddy: ………umm…… telly.

Giggle.
