Wasn’t going to do the photo day until next week, but a nothing day just turned into something nice. I actually took the Dora photo as a joke “start” to the day, not thinking i’d carry on, then the day just happened around us and was lovely
All that pretty much says it – but there were note worthy things. Fran, Maddy and i sat at the table and worked out how to draw more realistic people by using the shapes of clothes as outlines. Then Maddy and i worked on some hands too and she really got it. It was fun and a real “rosy moment” – Fran did fabulously as well, both of them were really open to trying new things; having a concentrated drawing week has really been useful. Must make an effort to do more.
Fran did a Letts workbook – completely baffled ME but being completely baffled herself by counting on or back in tens – i’d have sworn she could do this easily – but she did most of the page completely randomly; we went over them, she still seemed to be random while we were working it out together and then, at the end of the page, 4 perfectly accurate ones. Ummm.. okay. It was like we’d had some bizarre time warp experience. However, what WAS good was that she could read the workbook herself so i didn’t have to tell her what to do!
Then we all tootled off to the allotment and had a really idyllic 3 ours there in the sun, with picnic and toys while i weeded out some of the couch (?) grass and planted 4 rows of onions. Actually, the girls helped periodically. Not sure what we are going to do about the rotivated in grass, i’ll be picking that out till the Kingdom Comes (to coin a phrase) – anyway, excellent exercise and a reallyl ovely few hours.
Briefly home, then off to Rainbows. Fran has been offered almost immediate ‘flying up’ to Brownies and is naturally desperate to do so (along with a ballet exam that was also offered this week.. sigh…STOP growing up!!!). Not really sure if i want to let her ove up before September as its going to mean more dashing about plus it will leave Maddy potentially facing the bully alone. Although that may be helped by the reappearance of “S with the Squggly hair” – Maddy’s most adored friend from nursery last year, who turns out to live next door to D and E and is about to join Rainbows.
Anyway, tomorrow is going to be hell but i’ve got a peaceful weekend ahead as the big 3 are off to mum’s. Need to concentrate on business… need to lift myself out of a sinking feeling of post-baby-birth depression which has been hovering all week. I’m definitely hormonal, it’ll pass, expect that when the depression lifts my tonsils will probably try to strangle me.
