The whole experiment with the TT is really coming into fruit now – she’s great. Now she has the measure of the girls, she is doing a particularly great job and very keen to do new stuff with them too. Today, Fran got the majority of her time, TT dangling Josie from one arm while Ammi played at her feet. For a girl of 13, she’s a great advert for HE 😉
Day started rather abruptly with the taxi turning up for Maddy while we were all still asleep; hmm… i think i lack commitment there, i’d totally forgotten! So we had to run her in ourselves, which did at least get us all going.
Fran, Ammi and TT did drawing all morning – these are TT’s but i think Fran coloured them – hoping something about them might encourage her to try some more realistic drawing… she still draws exactly like she did 4 years ago!
These are their volcano drawings from the weekend…
Maddy did lots in grey, Fran the more impressionist version. I spent ages trying to explain that that sky is not a strip across the top but it fell on deaf ears till they made hama versions…
Fran got the idea of layers of rock though and was using books for references without help. I liked Maddy’s a lot too.
Tissue collages from the other week.
Josie being gorgeous again!
Amelie Montessori-ing again – i really must use some of our Sensorial Materials with her because she is very drawn to them, the first of the girls to be so really.
Fran’s 1st Australia Poster. She is really pleased with this and totally enjoyed sitting with TT today and learning about some of her chosen animals from this site. I have to say TT showed a REAL flair for presenting information to a child in an interesting way; i couldn’t have engaged Fran better myself, i was most impressed.
Fran also did a bit of maths, reading, writing and went off to bed with a few Ladybird books and some Greek Myths. We finished our Cleopatra book and the girls really enjoyed it – this is a great series from Usborne, i like them a lot; there are 4 so far but i hope they do more. Unfortunately our simplified Shakespeare doesn’t have Anthony and Cleopatra in it – anyone fancy lending me the version from the Book People??? 😀 (Which, incidentally i could happily spend about £100 at this month! ARGH!)
Maddy had had a nice day at nursery, the chicks had hatched, she’d made me a lovely pink collage which i must photograph. I’m musing how things are gonig to pan out with her – she is “official” now, though of couse she is in nursery and just happens by dint of birth date to hit the milestone a term earlier than Fran did. I feel very relaxed about it – her reading/ general skills bother me not at all – all that counts is that she is happy now. But i know she will enjoy learning actively and i’m puzzled by how to provide the type of learning that will fulfill her – i’m half considering something quite rigidly structured like Calvert – shocking i know – and i probably won’t – but i know she is gonig to require a very different type of structure/non structure to Fran over the next 18 months….. crumbs, its all good fun isn’t it…
