Delaying paranoia.

March 11, 2005 by

While snuggling a still rather poorly Josie on my knee last night, my fingers lighted on a lump behind her ear. I’m not quite sure what it is really. It “feels” a bit like a gland, certainly its the right sort of size and feel, but its on the bone that is the very start of her skull above the soft hollow under her ear. Left brain saying “calm down, its a gland” right brain shrieking “brain tumour alert.” Honestly, i never used to be like this, i don’t know what’s got into me. (Edit: Gods, that’s such a lie, i’ve ALWAYS been like this!!!) Anyway, i’m delaying paranoia until tomorrow at the earliest but if anyone happens to be a gp and wants to offer an opinion, feel free.

My boobs are killing me, she’s drunk me into a frenzy. Still, in-between bouts of calpol she seems okay but nothing like as smiley as normal. Days like these i could do with a mummy substitute, someone to do the worrying for me.

Other news: Fran went to see The Tempest by Shakespeare4Kidz today – D and E took her as i didn’t think the littler ones would appreciate it, although Maddy was cross not to go too. Before she went i read her the version of it from this Usborne Stories From Shakespeare book and she seemed to grasp it okay. Certainly they had had a lovely time and laughed at it lots, so a good introduction to Shakespeare i think.

Before she went Fran did some maths and writing, Getty Dubay and Exeter maths seem to be going down a treat; Maddy and Max (up but still looking really rough) played a reading game. I’d say that Maddy’s difficulties are currently residing at one particular level and i’d call it a “learning difficulty” i think – she has a real problem recalling things; letters, peoples names and faces, what she wanted to say, instructions etc. Other than repetition, i don’t quite know how to help it, so i’m hoping that “masterful inactivity” (like benign neglect but from a professional i think, the SALT coined the term!) will do the trick. Ammi played Reader Rabbit then Maddy and i did some of her Egyptology book – was quite impressed when the map prompted her to go and find another book and show me two maps of Egypt that were clearly the same.

Expecting a long night of feeding tonight – may be here, may not.

Grrrr…. another added rant, rabbit ate through the wires of two gamecube controllers (£10 each) and my USB camera cable (£20) Grrrr…… *rabbit pie for tea to go with the apple crumble i had to make after eating a fat-free, utterly delicious Muller Light Apple Pie yoghurt.*
