I’m on a distinctly short fuse. Not sure why but i’ve done a fair bit of growling today. Its partly that i’ve got rather a lot on, partly that i can’t get the time together to do one thing i really NEED to do to make my business a lot better and partly that its just a weird week between two holidays. I’m crap at organising holidays too, i’m really not sure i should do it. I’m too laxidaisical (?) by half. And i’m thoroughly believing my “the more you organise, the more goes wrong” theory.
I think the other problem is that i gave myself leeway to be very cool about how much we did between October and February. In many ways, more has happened HE wise than i expected but aside from reading good books, its been fairly dry stuff. There is so much the girls ask to do and i don’t quite feel i am meeting their asks. Particularly because i know Ammi is getting short changed and yet also disrupting things a lot. I’m just not meeting her needs and its making her angry with me. I’m starting to feel like i’d really like to actually learn about some of the stuff that crops up in conversations but we never get to it, partly because i’m so often feeding or just trying to keep things running. The reason i have to try and keep things running is becuase once we have lots of accummulated crud, i don’t function at all. I’m sure this is an insane quirk, but if my dining room is tidy and vacuum cleaned, i’ll happily get out craft stuff, paint, whatever. If its disappearing under piles of stuff, i just can’t face it at all. God, i’m so anal. Its just even more depressing cos i am naturally so untidy, its like i’ve developed a split personality.
So anyway. Today, i just could face us all rattling about so we got out 3 jigsaws and i took turns to help them while the others tried to do them. Ams insisted on doing a 4ft 100 piece rainforest one but as i had to help her loads, it did mean we got lots of time sat on the floor together. Moo did a 60 piece insect one and Fran did a 120 piece British Isles one. So lots of educational chatter came from those. Then we went to town and got our new camera and picked up an Egypt sticker book for Moo, a Disney one for Ams and a constellation dot to dot for Fran. Moo threw a wobbly, no idea why but it was a generally okay trip. Not totally got the hang of town with all 4 yet but a combination of threats and bribery did the trick! That and confining Ams to the buggy.
I’ve been feeling really cruddy so while i was out i took a leaf from Joyce’s book and got a bottle of not-grey-hair, a face mask and a deep moisturiser and applied them. Feel much better now :~D
Once we got home we bongo’d, i sat with Ammi and helped her with her sticker book, we went to Rainbows, we had stories, Muhammed’s mummy rang and we arranged for him to visit on Saturday, which means i must now remember to do birthday tea and cake too and Fran got into her dot to dot. She seems to know lots of the characters from her greek myths cd. Aside from that it sems to have sparked an interest in astrology rather than astronomy, but hey… Oh, we also had a long conversation on vegetarian v omnivorous v carnivorous.
