Giving in gracefully

February 4, 2005 by

I have this odd feeling that i’m peering out on the world through the proverbial holes in the sand, so i didn’t go mad today.

We had our group first thing and i must say, it feels like a really nice group of people. We just need a venue. I was hoping that Activity World would come through with a room but after a promising start, the conversation we had today pretty much death knelled it. I have utterly no idea what was gonig on in that conversation, and its too tedious to repeat but it felt like we were having a conversation in a time warp where vital bits kept getting missed out. It ended up with her saying we had to produce a letterhead to prove we were “registered” although we couldn’t pin her down to who she wanted us to be registered with and offering us a “deal” that was going to cost us considerably more than we had paid that day. Then they changed the room we had been offered and then looked horrified that we were planning to do crafts, because she was imagining us to be sitting do to do reading and writing practise… only it took far longer than that and we were all left shaking our heads in a perplexed fashion. At least, i don’t think it was just me. I can’t quite decide whether to try and speak to someone who actually has a clue or give up and find somewhere else. Ho hum.

That aside, it was very enjoyable. Well, at least all the mums seemed to have a nice time, no idea about the kids as i didn’t see them! Oh and i discovered a friend knows Muhammeds mummy, which was amusing :~)

Once we got home we doubled Maddy’s list of liked sandwich fillings by introducing honey to her, then i left them to the gamecube and Amelie and i had a snuggle up and finished her sticker book. We enjoyed that but sadly ended the day badly again after i got a bit sick of her kicking Maddy repeatedly in the head. “There was a little girl, who had a little curl..>” and all that. :~( However, the assorted ramblings in yesterdays comments box made me feel much better so thank you :~)

Maddy has gone to bed with earache and i’m going to follow, since assorted children meant i only got 4 hours sleep last night. However, i’ve decided i’m not a loon to have obsessed about potential terrorist opportunities while at Windsor Castle!

Fran is still really into her constellations book and i’ve promised to take her outside to stargaze at Melrose if we get a clear night, so someone remind me. I’d also like to walk out to this if we get a nice enough day. However i’m mildly confused because my dad told me about visiting it and also visiting Culloden Moor, as if they did it in the same day, the other day. But i’ve just looked and Culloden is near Inverness, so it can’tr have been. I don’t think mum and dad went that far up at all. Did he mean something else, anyone know? Joyce??? :~D
