Achievements indeed.

January 7, 2005 by

Poor old Ammi was a very sick child last night, wheezing, scratching, snotty, hurting and for some odd reason, holding one leg at an odd angle and comlaining of pain in her knee. So today we started off with a doctor trip and came home laden with stuff. She’s much improved now but on double doses of becotide and ventolin again. Its getting worse, this asthma malarky.

The second bit of bad news was hearing that there was an impending death in my very extended family, doesn’t affect me at all but does affect my sister. It has in fact now occurred (feel a bit funny blogging it but it did change my day a bit) so that is pretty sad. Involved lots of conversations with Fran regarding the whole issue of parental death and severe illness and so on, always a slightly difficult subject with our lot as max’s mum having died when he was so young does seem to impinge on their life quite a lot. They ask about it a good deal and like to be reassured that its not commonplace. I’ve no idea if its normal for kids to feel this way, any experiences anyone?

Slightly better were todays too parcels which i’m going to blog because they made me happy. Well the first did, the second just made me laugh. Firstly, trousers from Cotton Traders (yes, i know i’ve turned into a person in comfy shoes but i HATE highstreet shops!) – got these jeans in 2 sizes, the bigger ones are pre-pregnancy size and fit comfortably (in grape, lovely) and the smaller ones are not far off fitting (in chocolate) so its my aim to be in those for Melrose if i can. I also bought stretchy bootlegs trousers and i’ll have to send them back as they are too big. Cool. Somehow having a pair of trousers to slim into has made me feel really motivated about getting on with it. Hopefully if i can lose 2 stone this year i won’t want to get pregnant again! (yes, i know, i know, i know….)

Viking Direct sent me someone elses order which i found hilarious as apparently it means hundred of parcels probably went out one box away from the right label. Even more hilarious she suggested i took the other peoples number and got them to collect it, they are in ANDOVER! Yep, likely… Does mean my new super cool labeling machine is not going to arrive till monday though.

Girls were fab today. Fran helped me design and make 12 small heart designs for a Valentines Kit which are lovely and will be the first bit of the new look site, both she and Maddy spent ages on tangrams and did really well. Maddy wrote some beautiful a’s and t’s and could remember them, did a page on more and less faultlessly with me and read really nicely too. I’m proud of her. I do feel this 20 minute work out each day works for us. Fran did lots, including a CGP spelling test, some numbers puzzles and more joined up writing. All her numbers are backwards again though, what IS it with that? Ams lolled mostly and Josie slept off the effect of her JABS. She is hoo-ing at us all loads now.

Feeling faintly amused that the fridge currently has two sticker charts, one for Maddy when she remembers to wee before she wets and one for Fran who demanded one to prove she has done her normals. Nobody gets anything though, the stickers appear to be ample reward!!!! (No cross faces or big black X’s yet either, its not “Little Angels” here yet!!!!)

Oh yes, not only did Fran sit down and read a Flying Boot book to herself tonight but yesterday she did a whole JP page of working out the middle letter to words all on her own.

EDIT: Just read the story of Casabianca *weep* and last night we read The Miracle of the First Ponsettia. So lovely, i’ll find a link later. Must do something FIAR-ish on it. Also finally saw the dodgy doctor poster:- “We appreciate you’re kind offer of toys for the toy corner however. Due to health and Safety we cannot accept them.” Surely there was NO logical reason for splitting it like that!!!! Oh yes, apparently the reason i got a call from the LEA was he was concerned i would be worrying about it! Bless… lol…
