Cranking up the festive spirit.

December 13, 2004 by

Well, not so much, but i do have a mincepie craving. I have to say though, i’m scarily organised. All the girls presents are bought, most are wrapped, the cards are all made. The girls are away for the weekend and i’ll be making a few bits for relatives then but otherwise, i’m the most organised i have ever been. Just need a nice late surge on BM now really. Its been a little quiet the last few days.

So today Fran and i finished the card hama designs and glued them on. She has done ever so well, about 40 in 4 designs, mostly done by her too. Considering my objective for this last few months was to improve her concentration and sticking power, i have to say she has done well.

Camera is really duffed now. There is some weird fish eye thing happening. Must get it into town to be assessed for the insurance. *mental note*

After that Fran did a few bits of “work” fueled by the excitement of being able to read C’s writing on Jan’s blog. She did a number square and we covered the count ten on, ten back thing. Surprisingly baffling at first, but we got there. She also did a few bits of reading and writing, including our latest departure, a CGP spelling book that has list of words to read, spell and cover to write out again. Quite good for more random sounding out and vocab widening. She is getting a lot better and seems to have cottoned on to trying to “make sense” of words she doesn’t know now too.

Then we had to go and get Maddy. I’m suddenly wondering if Maddy has actually got some bladder problem going on. She has gone from being obsessively dry to constantly wet, even to the point that she will say she doesn’t need a wee while actually wetting herself and then being surprised. But more oddly, she doesn’t seem to know when she has finished and almost every wee now ends with her howling in the loo because her “bottom is still doing drips” after she has got off. I think i may have to take a sample into the doctors or something for her.

Everyone conked out in the car on the way to the Post Office (£33 today on postage! Gulp!) but before they did they all spent a long time shouting everytime they saw a decorated house and keeping count through their windows. All seemed very exciting suddenly. Much less decoration around here this year, people seem to be leaving it later. Ours are still in the box and i think that’s wise. apparently Moo was thoroughly stressed at nursery today.

Amelie was still out when we got home and snoozed through most of “Swan Lake.. the Barbie cut”

Just finished the day with the story of Elisha and Naamen, therefore a quick description of leprosy (is it curable these days? I had a moment of doubt…) Jabberwocky as part of my “poem a day” campaign whcih they thought was hilarious. Then more My Naughty Little Sister. Funny how often the stories are punctuated with “i can imagine Amelie doing that…”
