Feeling oddly full of Christmas spirit! No idea why.
Day started pleasantly with everyone sleeping in; Maddy and Josie were snuggled up in my bed for ages. Then we got the kids to write Christmas lists to FC, so that i could go and do the small amount of in-town shopping i plan on doing. Bargain, Fran wants Geomags so that means the ones i got from Sarah can go straight into hiding when they arrive. Maddy, slightly more complicatedly, wants a space design watch – i had her down for a nice pink and sparkly one from Letterbox, so i am a bit stumped now.
So Josie and i trotted off, i got stopped at least 3 times to have her poked, prodded and adored but also questioned on my Huggababy sling which drew lots of admiring glances. Its very comfy, very pleased with it, especially now i have fathomed the tucking in better. Josie slept al lthe way round which was excellent. However, it did leave me with this connundrum; are the pros of slings over prams outweighed by the lack of places to hang bags while Christmas shopping? I had to give up after 3 out of my 5 shops because i was overloaded.
Not to mention that those 3 shops took 2 hours – Mothercare (dressing gowns) Woolies (Shrek/Fiona outfit for Ammi and Cinders one for Fran plus Magic Kit for Maddy) and Smiths for Folk of the Faraway (gave up trying to remember Fanny and Bessie’s alter egos!) and My Naughtiest Little Sister. Town is impossible at this time of year; everything else from out relatively frugal Christmas is being done online. Must remember to buy Josie a token something…
The extended shopping knocked out swimming today so instead we took them for a latest walk at our local “here’s where we let the people of Pboro meet greenery” place. It was lovely; twilight, chilly but not cold, water, bridges, ducks, steam train. Most delightful. And then we went and showed off Josie to great Gran, came home, had sausage and mash and Toy Story 2.
Very nice.
